Times are changing here at Riordan! We are welcoming over 25 new Faculty and Staff and over 200 girls. Given the unique nature of the 20-21 school year, all admissions events and activities will be offered virtually. However, we are committed to ensuring that these events are substantive, interactive and representative of the strengths of our Mercy community. Our first Admissions event is  Girls Beyond the Screen, taking place on September 28th . In order to help students experience the excitement of our STEM and Visual and Performing Arts classes, we will be sending registrants packets prior to this event that will help them interact with our teachers and students during select project-based lessons and activities. I will be sending information about this event. We also want to note our upcoming  Virtual Open House, taking place on November 8th . During this event, parents and students will be able to take a virtual tour and hear directly from our administration, teachers, students and parents. Videos from this event will be available online after November 8th for interested families. 

  Student Experiences  (via Zoom) Dates:  Sept. 28 - Oct. 8  (Mon-Thurs) Times:  9am-10am  or  2pm-3pm Reservations will go live on  Monday, Sept. 14 at noon . Please encourage students to attend one of these events to get a glimpse into academics at SI.  They only last an hour, so hopefully there will be minimal disruptions to class time. Parent Experience  (via Zoom) Dates:  October 20  or   October 22  (Tues or Thurs) Time:  6pm-7pm Reservations will go live on  Friday, Oct. 9 at noon .  Parents should attend one of these events to hear from administrators, faculty and the SI Admissions Staff.  STAR tests next week - remember these scores will be sent to high schools. STAR Reading: Tuesday 09/01 I will split the class into 2 groups. Group 1: 10 -10:30am   Group 2  10:30 -11am STAR Math: Wednesday 09/02 and Thursday 09/03. We are currently working on a video for you to share with your class and hoping to send it to you in the next couple of weeks.  Also, our website has been updated with information on our virtual events and when we will begin taking reservations. www.siprep.org/admissions We could schedule a 30 minute session the week of October 12 or after.  That way, your students will have had a chance to view the video we send, as well as attend a virtual student experience over zoom with us. It won't be a presentation, more of a Q&A session or conversation. In terms of the HSPT, yes, it is still required for admission to SI and will be taken remotely. We will be working directly with the schools (as we always do!) to ensure we have all the academic information we need to ensure a student can be academically successful here at SI.

E verything will be virtual during the first semester at least. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to join one of your zoom classes. We are getting our calendar set up now that we know we will be remote learning for at least the first quarter of the year. Our goal is to keep the process as normal as possible for families. Be sure to let your families know to check our website to see when our Irish For A Day, Open House and parent tours go live. All of those will be virtual but we still want them to sign up, we need that information to stay in contact with them. Concerning the HSPT. All of the Catholic schools have not decided yet if they will use it this year. The testing company has created an online version. By the end of the month every school will have made a decision. Requirements aren't going to change but adjustments will be made. Some schools gave grades for the spring semester and some gave credit.  It will be challenging but we trust the information we receive fro
