Information regarding Lowell Admissions

Due to the Covid pandemic, students are lacking letter grades and the SBAC test from the Spring. These two missing parts make it impossible to implement the normal admission process for Lowell High. A proposal will go before the Board of Education on Tuesday the 13th, for the 2021-22 school year only, that Lowell's regular admission process be suspended, and for Lowell to be included in the regular Student Assignment System along with other SFUSD schools. Information about the Student Assignment System can be found here: https://www.sfusd.edu/schools/enroll/student-assignment-policy The Board will take public comment at Tuesday's meeting and will vote on the proposal on October 20th. All are welcome to attend the October 13th Board meeting at 3pm via Zoom. Links to the Board meeting can be found here: https://www.sfusd.edu/about/board-of-education/board-education-meetings Assuming the Board approves the proposal, students will apply for Lowell by simply listing Lowell as one of their choices on the regular Enrollment Application. There will be no separate Lowell application. We are encouraging all applicants to use the District's new Online Application for 2021-22. The application will open on October 26, and the deadline will be February 5th. The Online Application will be accessible through ParentVue at sfusd.edu/onlineapp. Paper applications will also be available in the lobby at 555 Franklin Street for those who are unable to access the internet. To those of you at private/parochial/independent schools, I will follow up with more detailed information about how your families can access the Online Application.
